Tim Burton, the legendary auteur filmmaker, has directed numerous short films, a television film, and his feature directorial debut, Pee Wee Herman’s Big Adventure (1985).
However, the moment when Tim Burton became a household name was with the release of Beetlejuice (1988) – one of the most iconic horror comedies ever made.
Though the plot revolves around a recently deceased ghost couple attempting to scare away a dysfunctional family from their own home, the film is named and remembered for its villain, the character of Betelgeuse.
Michael Keaton, who has been nominated for an Oscar, delivers a performance that is both hilarious and terrifying, despite having very little screen time.
Tim Burton is returning to create a sequel to one of his most influential films. Since Beetlejuice, some of his impressive filmography includes Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and Corpse Bride (2005).
The rest of the film’s crew has not yet been revealed, but many of Burton’s usual collaborators will likely be returning, such as long-time Burton collaborator and composer Danny Elfman.
Warner Bros. has officially announced that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will hit theaters on September 6, 2024. Since the Beetlejuice franchise is so well known for its creepy visuals and spooky atmosphere, it makes sense to think that Warner Brothers would be looking to release Beetlejuice 2 in the fall.

We know you have already been waiting for 30 years, but you will probably have to wait a little longer before we get our first good look at Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. However, given that the film will be released later this year, we should see some footage soon.
The sequel’s first official poster was released on February 1, 2024, by Warner Bros.
The original 1988 movie from Burton grossed $75 million domestically and forged his creative collaboration with Michael Keaton, with the two soon reteaming on Batman and Batman Returns.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reunites Keaton with the original cast members, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. Joining in the mix this time around are Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux.
Jenna Ortega will play Lydia, the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character from the first film. Most details about her role, including her name, are still unknown.
While little is known about the film’s plot, William Defoe has revealed some details about his role in it. He explained, “I play a police officer in the afterlife, so I am a deceased person. And in life, I was a B-movie action star, but I had an accident, and that’s what sent me to the other side.” It seems Beetlejuice 2 doesn’t stray too far away from the original storyline…
Here’s hoping we get to see Ortega in Beetlejuice 2 and, if we’re allowed to indulge our appetites, Winona Ryder returns so the two can share the screen as mothers and daughters.
