Back in April, Cara Delevingne showcased a dramatic new buzz cut for an upcoming movie.
The star, who will appear in Life in a Year alongside Jayden Smith, shaved her head in preparation for the role. She plays Jayden's girlfriend, who is dying.
Cara chopped her lob-length locks into a pixie cut, before shaving everything off. At Cannes Film Festival, for a trip she did with Magnum, she revealed that she loves her new buzz cut, but would never have been daring enough to change her hair if it wasn't for the role.
"You know, I’ve always had the same hair. The only reason I cut it short was because I was going to shave it," she said. "It’s one of the most liberating things I have ever done in my life.
"None of my agents or managers wanted me to shave my head, but to do the role, it felt really important to be authentic to that, to actually feel what it would be like to have no hair, and to be an advocate for feeling beautiful, no matter if you have hair or not. It’s not about what you look like, it’s about being a good person and being true to yourself."
When asked if she has any limits for herself as an actress, she said: "No fear, no limits, no. I think I would do anything, especially working with incredible directors, incredible visionaries. I would l like to support work with more female directors. I think there’s so much more room for females in the movie industry, in terms of acting roles, DPs, ADs, directors, I think that, you know, would be really important, female writers. I really want to direct one day, I would love to do a film where there was an all-female, you know. team and force behind it, I think that would be really cool."
