Former Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III died from heat stroke before his decomposing body was found in his apartment by police on June 1, according to officials.
In a statement, police in the Dallas suburb of Frisco said the Collin County medical examiner had ruled Barber's death an accident.
Barber was discovered by police who were making a welfare check after his family had not seen or heard from him in six days and other tenants in his building reported water leaking from his unit.
